Manage a server without a public IP address.
A public IP is not required for a supported outbound-agent management path. The server does need a working route to the Central services used by that path.
Administer a server that has only a private address.
For a VM on a private cloud subnet, the useful question is whether it can reach the required outbound destinations. A NAT gateway or other approved egress arrangement may provide that route without assigning a public IP to the VM itself.
Prepare and verify the connection.
- Check network reachability. Establish whether the private subnet has permitted outbound access. A private cloud subnet with no egress route cannot reach Central merely because an agent is installed.
- Choose the management path. Use a supported agent tool or approved service connection. Native SSH or RDP still needs its own service, credentials and local permissions.
- Verify the private deployment. Connect from outside the subnet, confirm the hostname and check the intended action works. Retain recovery access appropriate to the host and provider.
Use Central for the setup and management tools.
Sign in to Central for the package and deployment instructions for your machine. Supported management paths use outbound agent connections, so public inbound management ports are not normally required. Your local network and target services retain their own access controls.
Central starts at £10/month for five devices, excluding VAT. See pricing and inclusions and check supported platforms.
